Northumberland raynet covers the area from Berwick in the north across to the scottish borders and Cumberland in the west, down to the Durham border in the south
in the east the northumberland boundary is the "north sea"
sunderland raynet covers the "city of sunderland"
the metropolitan county of Tyne and Wear is perhaps best described as "joint coverage" main cover being from "city of sunderland".
our primary role is to support the statuary "blue light services" in other words the big four, along with other government and "local authorities".
our secondary role is that of being able to provide safety cover(comm's)
to various events in the rural outdoors.
Northumberland raynet is working as close as possible with other "non blue light services"
The(voluntary) search & rescue teams throughout the UK are controlled by the Police force in charge of that area, and through that "control" and other "driver training"
can operate under a blue light , but because of there voluntary status any request for assistance must come from the "police" , however in reality while the "rescue team" was requesting assistance from the "police" it is hoped that raynet would be contacted at the same or similar time.
thus giving us a "lead time".
Northumberland raynet work verry closely with the "northumberland emergency planning unit" from now on "NLD-EPU"
